just about anything online, anytime. But some purchases are still
overwhelmingly made in person, because the item in question is too
important/personal/specific/necessary/etc. to risk to the vagaries of the
internet. Prescription eyewear has long been one of those items, and while
eyeglasses have been available online for several years, the market has
significantly changed within the last year. There are now online vendors for
almost every possible type of prescription lens to suit almost every possible
consumer, but wading through all of the options can be daunting, especially for
newbies. The goal of this site is to demystify buying specs online so that you
can, without further ado, get some glasses!
If you're wondering why I'd bother to create an entire blog devoted to this topic, it's because I wear glasses. My husband wears glasses. My kid wears glasses. My parents wear glasses. My aunts and uncles wear glasses. My in-laws wear glasses. Many of my friends wear glasses. For all of us, and millions like us, glasses are an indispensable part of life. Thankfully, I discovered years ago that I could buy glasses online and have access to a wider selection, better prices, and, yes, even excellent customer service. But every time I mention that I shop for glasses online to the many bespectacled people I know, they look at me sideways and say, "Oh, I dunno about that."
